I have a friend who is good at etiquette. Like, ridiculously good at it. Emily-Post-but-better good at it.

I have a friend who is good at style. Like, ridiculously good at it. Straight-out-of-a-magazine good at it.

And I have another friend who is good at hair. Another who is good at makeup. Another who is good at interpersonal relationships. And so on.

None of those women think that their 'thing' is special. "I've had a lot of practice." "I just try stuff." "Everyone knows how to do that." "I'm not special." Et al.

Well, folks, the thing that I am really ridiculously good at is being my own handyman (read: handywoman).

I've been tackling DIY projects [with and without my parents' consent] since I was a toddler (proof below). I love to personalize living spaces. I love to upcycle sad furniture pieces. I love to solve weird layout issues. I love to minimize clutter. I love to make houses into homes.

I want to share my thing with you. I hope this blog provides "everywoman" inspiration, practical living ideas, and some "take it from me" DIY education along the way. This is a photo of me "helping" my dad build our pump house. . . I'm nailing roofing nails through tar paper with a plastic red hammer that I can still feel in my hand, 30 years later. This blog is dedicated to all the handy people who came before me and taught me that if you want it done on budget and on time, you can do it yourself.
